My Inspiration For The Determined Woman
It’s said that you should write about what you know. Taking that to heart inspired me to write The Determined Woman, the story of a young woman Isabella Farfalla struggling to keep afloat after her father’s death.
Isabella’s story is comprised of first-hand knowledge and many real-life stories experienced by the families in the mainly Italian enclave where my father settled the family on arrival to Canada. Isabella’s financial, life, and love struggles are those of the poor immigrants I grew up with. Her life lessons are those, which shaped many of my girlfriends and me. And I’m happy to say that Isabella’s successes reflect, not necessarily in scope but in spirit, those my girlfriends and I grew up to achieve. There is light at the end of that dark tunnel, and in the words of Louise May Alcott: Nothing is impossible to a determined woman.
I hope you enjoy Isabella’s story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
